Skaneateles, NY – September 13, 2010 – Vintners from the three main wine-growing regions in New York State will gather in the picturesque Finger Lakes town of Skaneateles for a weekend of wine tastings, seminars, food and music at the inaugural New York Wine Festival. Slated for September 24-26, 2010, the festival will be one of the first to bring together the fine wines of the Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley and Long Island, and will feature three days of events on the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Mirbeau Inn & Spa. The weekend begins Friday evening with a wine pairing dinner, limited to 55 people, to toast the festival’s opening in the Mirbeau French Steakhouse restaurant. From 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, wine seminars, vinotherapy spa treatments, wine and cheese tastings, and food vendors will tempt experts and the wine curious alike. Shuttles will transport festival-goers between the inn, the village tasting location and Anyela’s Vineyard for wine tours. Back on the Mirbeau festival grounds, participants will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite wines, the winner of which will be named the People’s Choice, while artists vie in an open-air art competition in the Monet Gardens. Live music will set a festive tone throughout the day and night. In the evening, the action moves to Mirbeau’s own Wine Bar, one of only a handful in New York with interactive wine stations that allow guests to browse and sample a variety of vintages at three different pour sizes.
A Champagne brunch on the Monet Deck starts Sunday’s festivities at 11:30 a.m., with wine tastings, cheese displays and live music continuing throughout the day. An official judges’ taste and vote culminates in the awarding of medals to the top-rated participating wines, and the festival comes to a close at 4 p.m.
Tickets range from a two-day pass ($45 purchased in advance up until Sept. 19 or $50 at the gate) to an Ultimate Wine Weekend that includes the Friday wine pairing dinner, Sunday brunch and a two-day pass for $200. A la carte tickets are also offered for the Friday dinner $120), Champagne brunch ($50), and a Sunday-only pass ($35). Overnight packages are also available and include two nights accommodations, a two-day pass to the festival, full breakfast daily, a vinotherapy spa treatment, unlimited use of Mirbeau’s Aqua Terrace, fitness center, steam and sauna rooms, tax and gratuities, and the option to participate in a wine pairing dinner.
