DESIGN |
Mirbeau, loosely translated as “reflected beauty,” is inspired in part by the soft light and warm colors found in the paintings of renowned French Impressionist Claude Monet. The creation of Skaneateles-based architect Andrew J. Ramsgard and interior designer Linda Dower, Mirbeau Inn & Spa was designed to echo the natural beauty of its landscape while evoking the warmth and comfort of a French wine country estate. The inn and its surrounding buildings call to mind an old-world style blended with a casual elegance that takes full advantage of the inn’s wooded setting and nearby lakes. The chateau-like inn and spa buildings, including the four freestanding Cottages, curve gracefully around the beautiful gardens and ponds creating a landscape inspired by Monet’s own gardens. |
DINING |
Mirbeau’s award-winning restaurant recently unveiled a new dining concept when it reopened as The French Steakhouse at Mirbeau in June 2010. Showcasing local Finger Lakes produce, meats, cheeses and other farm fresh products, the French Steakhouse features a farm-to-table menu infused in a French Country style and offering in-house dry-aged beef, fresh seafood that is flown in daily, French Country-style comfort food and house-made breads and desserts from Mirbeau’s own bakery. The menu is complemented by an extensive wine list featuring the finest American and French selections, including special vintages selected from the Finger Lakes region. Table-side presentation of many of the menu items, including a traditional Caesar salad, the filleting of a whole fish and the carving of a Cowboy-style steak for two, underscores the restaurant’s sense of fun and romance. Rounding out the menu is selections of spa-inspired plates that have been created especially for the health-conscious guests of Mirbeau’s world-class spa. |
