Wellness Class: Instructors Biographies
- Sue Benjamin
Sue is an elementary school teacher in Marcellus, N.Y. She has been a fitness instructor since her graduation from Syracuse University with a B.S. degree in elementary education. Sue received her M.S. degree in education from Cortland State University and a C.A.S. degree in educational administration from Oswego State University.
In the fitness realm, Sue has coached women's gymnastics at Marcellus High School, specializing in choreography for balance beam and floor exercise. She received her certifications in group exercise instruction and step instruction from AFAA. Sue taught aerobics and step at the Bally Total Fitness Center in DeWitt for two years. She has also choreographed musical productions for the Skaneateles Summer Theater and for the Skaneateles High School. Sue received her certification in yoga instruction from the FITOUR Organization and has been a yoga and aerobics instructor for the Mirbeau Inn and Spa.
- Debbie Bobbett
Debbie Bobbett earned a BS in Health Promotion/Exercise Physiology & Gerontology from Lynchburg College in 1998. She is currently working towards a Masters in Health Education from SUNY Cortland. Debbie is a Certified Personal Trainer/Group Exercise Instructor through AFAA- Aerobic and Fitness Association of America, Certified Health Education Specialist through The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Nutrition Specialist through Lifestyle Management Associates, Pilates & Sport Yoga Instructor through National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association, Certified Perinatal Instructor through Healthy Moms Corporation, and Indoor Cycling Instructor. She attributes her success to her passion for health & wellness, ability to motivate & work with all populations.
- Judiann Cesta
Judiann Cesta is a graduate of Synergy Center for yoga and the healing arts in Miami Beach, Florida. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an e-ryt with over 1,000 hours of teaching experience. In addition Judiann has trained more experienced yoga students to become yoga teachers. She has been teaching yoga at Mirbeau for over 9 years.
- Tyson Chang
Tyson is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and continually educates himself about the latest in exercise science, nutrition and sporting trends. His training philosophy is to emphasize functional movements and core strength, through fun and varied workouts. He has always been passionate about fitness and is an avid soccer and hockey player. Tyson finished two marathons and various other races at shorter distances. While training for these races, he identified a real passion for helping his friends meet their fitness goals. He loves investigating the best methods to improve and achieve muscular strength.Tyson's goal is to have you feel more positive about your appearance and abilities and improve your functional strength.
- Nicole Csemez
Nicole brings her motivational and energetic attitude to Mirbeau. Her love of cycling, functional fitness and core training make her a strong addition to our fitness staff. After 7 years of triathlon training, accomplishing numerous Sprint Triathlons, 70.3 Half Iron Man, Mud Runs and a Spartan. Nicole became a certified spin instructor and wants to encourage others to experience an active lifestyle. Nicole’s inner rhythm, love of music and soulful approach to life are evident in every class.
In her spare time, Nicole is the Director of Music at her church, enjoys cooking, decorating and being on the lake. She resides in Skaneateles with her husband and has 3 daughters.
- Michele Gardner
Michele Gardner is a 500hr ryt Dharma Yoga Teacher. Sri Dharma Mittra is a self realized living yoga master, teaching the path of yoga for over 50 years. "The Dharma Yoga Method is designed to unfold complete movement of the spine and unleash your full energetic potential, leading you to higher states of health and well-being." Michele also combines her passion of yoga with Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils in her Essence Yoga classes. Optimizing two very pure ancient practices by bringing awareness to the breath, calming the mind and bringing the body into balance.
- Chris Hueber
Chris is an avid cyclist. She has completed several century rides and charity rides, and in 2010, she began participating in triathlons. Chris has qualified to compete at USA Triathlon Nationals in 2013. Chris is a USA Cycling Coach.
- Tina Ramsden
Tina Ramsden is registered by Yoga Alliance, E-RYT. Her trainings include Yin Yoga, Sarah Powers, Vinyasa Yoga, Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste and Sean Corn. As well as Therapeutic Teacher Training in Self Awakening Yoga with Dr. Don Stapleton. She earned a BSE in the field of health education as a Recreational Therapist from SUNY Cortland. Tina is Certified through The American Council on Exercise and a Certified Kripalu Danskinetics Teacher as well as a Certified Personal Trainer. Tina has 25+ years’ in health & wellness and is currently working on advanced yoga training in the style of Anusara and Yin Yoga. She continues her studies to bring back fresh and new perspectives to students!
- Carissa Thompson
Ms. Thompson began her health and wellness path over a decade ago in attempt to counteract the harsh effects on the body of playing competitive soccer her whole life. she began practicing daily yoga while studying nutrition, and 10 years later hopes to share her practice and knowledge with others. She has earned her Yoga certification through YogaFit and has studied the styles of Sean Corn, Steve Ross, Brian Kest and Rodney Yee allowing her to blend her classes into a multi-faceted, engaging, and eclectic journey. She is currently working towards completing higher level yoga trainings and constantly educates herself in the world of health and Wellness with a passions for researching and studying Nutrition for Athletes. She has completed many local races including a half marathon, and also participates in functional fitness circuit training, kickboxing, cycling, and yoga. She is new to Skaneateles and loves the underlying peace and serenity that exude through the pores of our unique town. She earned her BS degree in Human Services and Health from Syracuse University.
- Melissa R. Weinberger, RN
Melissa has a diverse background as a registered nurse, chiropractor, yoga and pilates instructor. She danced ballet prior to studying yoga and pilates. Melissa has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for 12 years, attending classes taught by leading Iyengar yoga teachers and has been teaching yoga and pilates classes at a pilates-based physical therapy studio and at New York Chiropractic College. Iyengar style yoga focuses primarily on alignment, utilizing props such as belts, blocks, blankets and the wall to assist the student in achieving the proper alignment in each posture, preventing unnecessary injury. Her classes are largely influenced by this style of yoga along with some vinyasa (flow) and breathing exercises. Poses are tailored to the needs of each student therefore students of any level are invited to attend.
